BULK MATERIAL: Recommended Uses
3/4” Minus Crushed Limestone:
Packs very well for driveways. Must be watered in to reduce fines and settle.
1 1/4” to 3/4” Screened Limestone:
Crushed rock best used for paths, walkways or top dressing for existing limestone driveways. Very few fines—packs fair.
5/8” Minus Crushed Rock:
For driveways, packs very well. Gray in color with lots of fines (very sandy). Must be watered in to reduce fines and settle.
1” to 2” Drain Rock:
Smooth round rocks that allow water to run through.
Pea Gravel:
Not crushed. Round rocks okay for drainage, paths and walkways. Not for use in driveways—does not pack very well.
Sand—Construction or riverbed:
Children’s sandboxes, setting patio stones or brick. Good additive to hard clay soil to break it up and improve drainage.
Bark—Medium and Fine:
Decorative and mulching purposes. Keeps moisture around plant material.
Sawdust & Shavings:
Mulch or healing in plants. Good additive to hard clay soil to break it up and retain moisture.
Sandy Loam Topsoil:
Good base for lawns or gardens. Needs amending with organic material for gardening.
Nursery Soil Mixes:
3-Way: Topsoil, sawdust and composted cow manure. Ready to plant!
5-Way: Topsoil, sawdust, composted cow manure, sand and mushroom compost. Ready to plant!
Garden Compost Mulch:
From Green Earth Technology, this compost is comprised of 50% dairy solids, and 50% green waste (primarily yard clippings, all from NW Washington). This renewable blend holds moisture to reduce watering frequency and adds nutrients to alleviate the need for chemical fertilizers.
