The History of Bakerview Nursery & Garden Center
In 1938, J. Bert Clark purchased Farley Feed Co. From that point forward J.B. Clark and his son, Robert (Bob) Clark developed Clark Feed & Seed. This prosperous business included feed, garden plants and seed, pets, and supplies. During this time the Clarks' formulated the famous "Chuckanut Lawn Seed" for Whatcom County lawns.
In 1957, Clark Feed & Seed added a "Drive-In" Nursery on State Street becoming one of the first full-service garden stores and nurseries in Whatcom County. Bob Clark's radio program on KGMI was a great hit with gardeners for more than 20 years.
In 1965, land on East Bakerview Road was purchased for Clark's future growth. In 1971, the Clark family moved plants and supplies from the former drive-in nursery to this location forming Bakerview Nursery. The main building was finished and the grand opening was held in the spring of 1972. Bakerview Nursery is managed by Larry and Toni Clark. With its growth, the business has developed into one of the finest and most complete nursery and garden centers in the state.
The Clark family has enjoyed serving Whatcom County gardeners with all their gardening and horticultural needs for the past 60 years and look forward to continuing for many more!
